FAQs

Learn About Flexible Packaging

Which flexible pouch size should I choose?

Current standard reference sizes are: 1g — 3.5 × 4.5 inches, three-side-seal pouch; 1/8oz — 4 × 5 inches with a 2-inch gusset; 1/4oz — 4 × 7.25 inches with a 2-inch gusset; 1/2oz — 5 × 8 inches with a 2.5-inch gusset; and 1oz — 6 × 10 inches with a 2.5-inch gusset. Capacity can vary with the product, pouch construction, zipper, and required sealing space. Request samples to confirm fit before production. Custom sizes are also available.

What are the flexible pouches made from?

Available film structures include standard and PCR options, with selected structures containing up to 65% post-consumer recycled material. The exact structure is selected according to your barrier, printing, and feature requirements. The pouches are made in the USA, food-grade, FDA-compliant, odor-resistant, and moisture-resistant. Most structures use multilayer film and are not curbside recyclable or compostable.

Are the flexible pouches child-resistant and tamper-evident?

Pouches configured with the child-resistant zipper are ASTM child-resistant certified. Standard zippers and no-zipper constructions are also available, so not every configuration is child-resistant. Tamper evidence is provided by a heat-sealed section that must be torn open. Child-resistant pouches must include the required opening instructions in the artwork.

Can the pouches meet New York’s recycled-content requirement?

Yes. A pouch structure containing at least 25% PCR material can satisfy New York’s minimum recycled-content provision for applicable plastic cannabis packaging. Available structures can contain up to 65% PCR material. Confirm the percentage on your quote and request documentation for the exact structure ordered. Brands remain responsible for confirming that the finished package and label meet all applicable requirements. New York Part 128 regulations: https://cannabis.ny.gov/system/files/documents/2025/12/part-128-part-129.pdf

What is the MOQ, and can I print multiple SKUs?

The minimum order quantity is 5,000 total pouches, with at least 2,000 units per SKU. For example, an order containing three SKUs would require at least 6,000 total units. Pricing depends on size, quantity, number of SKUs, material, zipper, finish, and other features. Submit a separate RFQ for each desired pouch size.

Will I receive the exact quantity I order?

Custom pouch orders are subject to a production overrun or underrun of 10–20%, as stated in your order terms. An exact finished quantity cannot be guaranteed. For example, an order for 5,000 pouches with a 20% tolerance may produce between 4,000 and 6,000 finished pouches. You will be invoiced for the actual quantity produced. Final quantity adjustments and shipping must be paid before the pouches are released.

How can the flexible pouches be customized?

Options include standard or custom sizes, stand-up and three-side-seal formats, gloss, matte, or soft-touch matte finishes, child-resistant, standard, or no zipper, hang holes, tear notches, round or square corners, windows, metallic effects, spot treatments, and printing inside the pouch. Available combinations depend on the selected film structure and printing method.

What artwork do I need to provide?

Use the current approved dieline for your selected size and save each SKU as a separate file. Print-ready Adobe Illustrator or PDF artwork should use CMYK color, outlined fonts, embedded high-resolution images, and separate artwork and dieline layers. Extend backgrounds into the required bleed, keep critical information inside the safety area, and clearly identify white ink, windows, and metallic elements. Follow the exact requirements shown on your size-specific dieline. The prepress and PDF proof fee is $175 per SKU. A PDF proof must be approved before production.

Are samples available, and what is the production lead time?

Yes. Samples are available to help confirm product fit, pouch construction, zipper operation, and finish. Typical production lead time is approximately three weeks from final proof approval. Artwork preparation, proof revisions, optional physical press proofs, and shipping occur outside that production window. Optional physical press proofs cost $150 for up to five SKUs, take approximately 3–5 business days after digital proof approval, and are not laminated.
